PHC Holdings Announces Integration of LSI Medience Health Checkup Support Business with New Company WEMEX — Internal PHC Group Synergy to Expand Preventive Healthcare Solutions in Japan —
PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, President, Representative Director and CEO: Shoji Miyazaki, hereafter PHCHD) announces that it will carve out the Health Checkup Support Business from its operating company LSI Medience Corporation (hereafter LSI Medience) and integrate it with another newly created PHCHD operating company, WEMEX Corporation (hereafter WEMEX)*1. This reorganization within PHC Group is designed to better align company resources related to advancing preventive healthcare solutions, and has been decided by PHCHD as well as approved at the two operating companies, The effective date of this change is scheduled for April 1, 2023, the same day that WEMEX will begin operations.
LSI Medience provides healthcare solutions in Japan mainly in the areas of clinical testing, diagnostic reagents & instruments, and drug development services. Its health checkup support business, which will be carved out and integrated with WEMEX, currently partners with over 2,800 medical examination centers and medical institutions nationwide, providing outsourced clerical services for health checkups in companies and health insurance societies. PHCHD in January announced the creation of WEMEX, a new company formed by the integration of the Medicom Business Unit of PHC Corporation with PHC Medicom Corporation, which provides medical-receipt computers, electronic medical record systems, and support tools for pharmacy management. WEMEX’s WellsPort Series products provide solutions for health enhancement activities by connecting medical examination centers and medical institutions with patients and employees of companies that have outsourced the service. This supports the operations of individual organizations and the health management of people in health insurance associations, especially for those that require specified health guidance.
Integrating this health checkup support business with WEMEX will enable PHC Group*2 to focus its related customer bases and IT technologies under one company, which will help PHC Group expand its offerings in preventive healthcare. It will also advance the initiatives in becoming a solution provider through combination of health management platforms, specified health guidance services for lifestyle diseases, and medication examination administration services. WEMEX will seek for the well-being (physical and mental health) of health insurance members and their families. This will be achieved by providing services that help visualize health conditions and value-added solutions for preventive healthcare to companies, health insurance associations and health examination centers.
