Wemex Launches Integrated Electronic Medical Record System Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud, Using Cloud Technology to Support Location-Free Operations for Clinics
Wemex Corporation (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President, Representative Director: Takayuki Otsuka, hereafter Wemex), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), announces the launch of an integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system, Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud*1 for clinics in Japan.
Customer needs in EMR systems are changing significantly due to the Data Health Intensive Reform Plan*2 led by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) and its associated security measures, as well as the need to establish business continuity plans for emergencies and natural disasters. Solutions to support efficient workflows and digital transformation in healthcare are also in demand. The newly released Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud is a high-end EMR model that can quickly and flexibly respond to the digital transformation in healthcare, such as online insurance eligibility verification and e-prescriptions. The product retains the high operability and user-friendly input speed of the previous models, and the addition of cloud technology means it can be used from many locations without dedicated devices.
Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud comes with Medicom Cloud Operation Continuity System, which immediately switches over to cloud operation during emergencies and natural disasters. The new product enables medical record viewing and image capture functions using regular tablets and devices. It can also be operated fully remotely from anywhere with internet access and comes with the wide range of functions available in the Medicom-HR series, which can be used via notebook or PC. In addition, the product is highly customizable and interfaces with third-party services via Medicom Cloud Connect API*3, supporting the diverse work styles of healthcare providers.
Three Unique Features of Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud
#1 Ability to view medical records from outside the clinic using PC or tablet
Healthcare providers can check medical records on the go or from home via PC or tablet, allowing them to respond if a patient’s condition suddenly changes outside of clinic hours. The system also helps improve work efficiency with functions for advanced confirmation of patient information, access to testing results and special notes, and a simple comment section for healthcare providers.
#2 Direct import of images from tablet to EMR system
Images of patient issues and insurance cards can be sent and saved in the EMR system using tablets without a cable connection. This allows healthcare providers to save time importing patient photos taken during in-home medical care.
#3 Remote control of the clinic servers
Previous models required an optional service to operate EMRs remotely and for the power of the EMR system in the clinic to be turned on. The Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud can control the power of the server in the clinic remotely so healthcare providers can access the EMR system as if they were working in the clinic.
Takayuki Otsuka, President, Representative Director of Wemex, said, “We have led the market as the company with the highest volume*4 of clinical EMR system solutions since Japan approved the storage of medical information on electronic media devices in 1999. Wemex seeks to offer optimal solutions that use the technology of both on-premise systems, which are servers installed in the clinic, and cloud-based systems to improve operational efficiency in healthcare workplaces, enhance better healthcare services for patients, and advance the future of healthcare through digital transformation. We will also drive development of products and services that embody Wemex’s four visions in cloud technology: Cloud for Sustainability, Cloud for Freestyle, Cloud for Marketing, and Cloud for Innovation*5, to create new value in digital health solutions.”
