TOKYO, April 16, 2020 - PHC Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Shoji Miyazaki) announces the launch of software*1 linking its Pharnes pharmaceutical-receipt system with the Musubi medication history system from KAKEHASHI Inc. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Yutaka Nakao, hereafter Kakehashi) in Japan.
In order to improve medical services in Japan, more communication with patients is essential. However, with pharmacies experiencing a shortage of pharmacists and an increased workload, it has been difficult to dedicate enough time to provide patients with appropriate services. Greater reduction in pharmacists’ workflow is required to gain more time for patients and enable them to deliver sufficient medication instructions and management.
The newly launched product is dedicated software that links PHC Corporation’s Pharnes pharmaceutical-receipt system and Kakehashi’s Musubi medication history system that was developed to reduce pharmacists’ workload. Except for integrated systems with pharmaceutical-receipt and medication history functions, after a pharmacist had provided medication instructions the pharmaceutical management fee data calculations had to be passed onto medical assistants and physically entered into the pharmaceutical-receipt system. The new software automatically transfers the calculated pharmaceutical management fee data from Musubi to Pharnes. This greatly facilitates medical accounting as it eliminates the need to provide data to medical assistants or manually enter it into the pharmaceutical-receipt system. Additionally a patient’s essential medication information is also linked between the systems to simplify information sharing within a pharmacy. PHC Corporation’s Pharnes is an industry-first for offering linking capability with Musubi.
PHC Corporation is a Japanese subsidiary of the PHC Group, a global healthcare company that develops, manufactures, sells, and services across diabetes management, diagnostics and life sciences, as well as providing healthcare services. Launching this linkage software should boost added value in the pharmacy-focused product lineup for their domestic healthcare IT business.
Takayuki Otsuka, corporate officer and co-head of Healthcare Services Domain of PHC Holdings Corporation as well as member of the board and director of the Medical Information Systems (Medicom*2) Division of PHC Corporation says, “Since launching Japan’s first medical-receipt computer in 1972, PHC Corporation has been the leading provider of medical IT products, using its accumulated experience and expertise. Last fiscal year, we signed a sales partnership agreement with Kakehashi and have since invested in this partnership. We are excited to launch this new linkage between Pharnes and Musubi, as we believe it will greatly improve workflow for pharmacists and enable better patient care. In addition to co-development of the next-generation healthcare platform with Kakehashi, we are continuing to expand our product portfolio through the development of new systems to deliver better medical services for patients. As a company aiming to become the leading provider of best-in-class precision and digital solutions in Japan’s healthcare service, we will contribute to higher-quality medical care by identifying areas of the healthcare workflow that can be improved and by providing optimal solutions to address those needs for medical professionals.”
